The Joinery is a sustainable building project, located at 640 N. Denver Ave. in Tulsa. The 2,840-square-foot, two-story, brick residence is the first in Oklahoma to seek The Living Building Challenge™ certification from the International Living Future Institute.
These regenerative buildings are constructed not only to be self-sufficient but also to give more than they take (i.e. net positive energy, water, and waste). It’s considered “the world’s most rigorous proven performance standard for building.” In fact, there are fewer than two dozen fully certified Living Buildings in the world. The Joinery was a very cool project. JR&B partnered with a structural masonry group (building culture and anchor development) that build amazing homes in Eufaula. The project was fascinating to work on from start to finish.
